Spear and Magic Helmet

In the 1980s, Chuck Jones began painting in oil the animation characters that he had created, directed and loved for more than 50 years. Each painting displayed his refined technique and superb understanding of the nature of the character (and his own.) In one of the forewords to Stroke of Genius, his wife, Marian, recounts "...this book brings back memories of watching my husband when he first decided to use oil paints to portray the famous cartoon characters. It was an artistic challenge, an ongoing exploration, which he relished." This new giclée on canvas is pictured on page 87 of Stroke of Genius.
